Nicole Unice :: speaker, writer, counselor

About

Between a toddler, a baby, and graduate school, Nicole Unice realized she was a desperate woman in need of serious help. The demands of marriage, mothering and working had left her as spiritually dry as a week old casserole.

She had usually avoided women’s ministry, because she thought it meant tea, cutesy God statements and her personal nemesis, crafts.

But God had other plans.

As Nicole began allowing women to help her grow and meet her needs,
God continually called her into leadership roles with women…as a youth intern for teen girls, a Christian counselor, a womens’ director, and most recently, working in student and family ministry at Hope Church.

Although she occasionally adopts the word “ya’ll”, Nicole is an army brat by birth. Four cross-country moves, eight military bases, and more room switches than she can count were all part of her parent’s label for life, “The Great Adventure.” The military life has a special place in her heart. A womens’ bible study in Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, first ignited her passion for scripture at the age of fourteen.

Nicole received her B.A. in Psychology at the College of William and Mary (’97) and her M.A. in Christian Counseling at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary (’04).

Nicole is a contributing editor to Gifted for Leadership, a Christianity Today Publication, where she regularly blogs on women’s issues, leadership, and ministry. She serves on the advisory board for Synergy, a national conference for women in ministry. She’s also a part of the leadership blog at Fullfill, and a columnist with RichmondMom.com.

She has also been published in Discipleship Journal and Kyria.  A leader and speaker at women’s studies and events, Nicole’s teaching is relevant, peppered with her everyday honest struggles and plenty of humor.

Nicole married her college sweetheart, David, who her parents proclaimed to be the only boy she ever dated that was smarter than her. (the verdict is still out). David and Nicole have three children: one conscientious kindergartener, Charlie, one diva daughter, Cameron, and one wide-open toddler, Desmond.
